Work with social organizations
As a cooperative, we recognize the social role of our professions and seek to contribute to the free circulation of ideas and dissemination of knowledge. Since our founding in 2016, we have volunteered our services in order to strengthen the work of different social organizations and thus contribute to building a fairer society based on solidarity.
BUENOS AIRES, 2018 – INTERPRETATION
ENGlobal Exchange of Waste Picker's Organizations.
Under the motto, “Recycling in our hands”, this event brought together waste pickers – also known as cartoneros, carreros, or recyclers – from Senegal, South Africa, Ghana, India, USA, France, Italy, Ecuador, Colombia, Brazil, Canada and Argentina.
CUBA, 2020 – INTERPRETATION
EN1st Global Meeting on Agro-ecology Schools and Training Processes.
As part of our volunteer efforts, we collaborated in this exchange between representatives of more than 41 countries, working to develop agro-ecological and sustainable practices at the international level.
VENEZUELA, FEBRERO 2019 – INTERPRETATION
ENChe Guevara Internationalist Brigade and the 1st International Peoples' Assembly.
Held in February 2019, the Che Guevara Internationalist Brigade was attended by brigadistas from around the world, who came together to share their experiences and unify the struggle taking place in different territories.
BUENOS AIRES, 2017 – INTERPRETATION
EN6th International Gathering of the Workers' Economy .
As language professionals at this event which featured speakers and attendees from America, Europe, Asia, and Africa, we contributed to building solidarity networks among workers from cooperatives, recuperated companies, the popular economy and other self-managed experiences.
CÓRDOBA, 2016 – INTERPRETATION
ENFINCA - International Environmental Film Festival.
We worked as part of Vandana Shiva’s interpretation team. Shiva visited Argentina, together with Marie Monique Robin, as part of their struggle against multinational agrochemical companies and their efforts to implement an agro-ecological model of production.
Abra Open Calls
In addition to our volunteer efforts with the different social organizations with which we are involved, Abrapalabra intends to undertake at least one campaign per year, or Abra Convocatoria, in which we shall contribute our professional capabilities to different social causes.

Argentina, 2018
It was against the backdrop of this historic moment in Argentina, which began with the debate on the legalization of abortion, that we launched an open call for translators to join us in the weeks leading up to the August 8 session of the National Senate and help circulate the statements of the National Campaign for the Right to Legal, Safe and Free Abortion in different languages and throughout global media. The effort involved more than 75 volunteer translators and had a high impact; we were able to translate the statements into eleven languages: German, Arabic, Catalan, French, Guarani, Italian, English, Nepali, Portuguese, Quechua and Russian.
The People's Summit

Our work as interpreters at The People’s Summit was the result of our open call to social organizations in mid-2017, in which we asked different social movements and organizations to present their proposals for projects to which we could contribute as language professionals.
The People’s Summit was part of the #FueraOMC (#WtoOut) Week of Action, during which time forums and popular assemblies were held with representatives of social movements from North America, Europe, Asia and Africa.
